Castella is a variant of Portuguese Pao de Castela, very popular in Japan and Taiwan. In the 16th century, the Portuguese started trade and missionary work at Nagasaki, the only Japanese port open for foreign commerce. They introduce a lot of things and this cake is include. Day by day, the recipe changed to suit the Japanese taste.
Castella is a soft sponge cake, made of sugar, flour, eggs, sugar and can be combined with many other ingredients to create different flavors. If you arrive at the right time, you will be surprised by the size and texture of the cake before being cut.
Very popular in Asian countries like Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam, you can now enjoy this attractive cake in Paris, France, at Fu Castella ("fu" means happy). All ingredients are carefully selected, bio ingredients, moderate sweetness and without preservatives.
The shop is designed in Japanese style, very elegant and natural with a lot of plants on the wall.
