Les Petites Mains

A Summer Feast Enjoyed in the Beautiful Galliera Palace in Paris

There are a few things you absolutely cannot miss while traveling in Paris: dining with a view of the Eiffel Tower, visiting museums, and enjoying Europe's terrace culture. Today, through this article, I want to introduce you to a place where you can experience all of these things at once. It is Les Petites Mains, located in the gardens of the Paris Fashion Museum, Palais Galliera

Fashion Museum of the City of Paris

The Palais Galliera, the Fashion Museum of the City of Paris, is a French museum located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, dedicated to the art and history of clothing and haute couture.

The museum is open to the public during temporary exhibitions, which occur twice a year on average, each lasting about four to six months. Until 2021, there was no permanent display of the collections due to conservation reasons. The museum is located in the former palace of the Duchess of Galliera, which was constructed between 1878 and 1894 by the architect Léon Ginain.

In the beautiful gardens of this museum, a wonderful outdoor restaurant operates from early summer to early autumn. It's the perfect place to have a meal after visiting the fashion museum's exhibits, but it's also fine to simply enjoy a meal there, irrespective of a museum visit.

Despite being in a location where the Eiffel Tower is easily visible and having a renowned chef preparing the food, the price range is relatively affordable. We decided to order the cheapest lunch menu and a drink. Note that this menu is not available on weekends.

One of the most amazing aspects of this restaurant is the opportunity to dine in the courtyard of the 19th-century French palace of the Duchess of Galliera. Beyond the view of the Eiffel Tower, the beauty conveyed by the palace's architecture and gardens themselves is incredibly impressive.

With 600m2 of green space offering a view of the Eiffel Tower, it's the ideal place to spend wonderful moments in the sun. Leading the kitchen of this temporary dining spot is Chef Geoffrey Lengagne, who presents a menu inspired by spring and rich in seafood, accentuating the flavors of sun-ripened fruits and vegetables.

This restaurant presents French dishes that are perfect for the summer, utilizing only the freshest seasonal ingredients. The broccoli served as a starter was particularly impressive in terms of texture. The blend of oven-roasted vegetables, which were nutty and crispy, along with creamy Greek yogurt, cheese, and pine nuts as the sauce, resulted in a delightful harmony. The accompanying herb lemonade was equally refreshing and delicious.

Justine Piluso has crafted a menu infused with Mediterranean flavors and adorned with Italian touches. The main dish featuring white fish was genuinely gratifying. Despite its reasonable price, it showcased the sophistication and refinement one would anticipate from a high-end fine dining establishment. The finely chopped tomato and shallot sauce harmonized wonderfully with the tender fish, and the fresh baby spinach contributed both texture and healthiness to the dish. The accompanying roasted potatoes were neither greasy nor heavy, and their compatibility with the main course was nearly perfect.

One cannot ignore the desserts by France's renowned pastry chef, Jeffrey Cagnes. The dessert showcased a light, delicately sweet creamy gelato, skillfully paired with peaches. While it's widely known that peaches are exquisite in France during the summer, savoring a dessert created by the chef with this fruit proved to be rejuvenating. With an Instagram following of 350,000, this young and promising patissier's selection of cake desserts also comes with high recommendations.
