Located on the north side of Paris, it overlooks the hustle and bustle of Paris and the meanders of the Seine. Montmartre has the soul of an artist.

 

PLACE DALIDA 

The square is named after Egyptian actress Dalida, who rose to fame as a world-class singer in France. She made her debut in Egypt and became a movie star, then came to France and settled in Montmartre. Dalida has performed about 2,000 songs in 10 languages, including French, Italian, German, Spanish and Greek, and has made tremendous contributions to the development of world music.

 

AU LAPIN AGILE 

Au Lapin Agile bar is a place of artistic interest in the Montmartre district and is named after the artist Andrey Gill's 1875 painting of the bar: "a rabbit that jumps out of the pan". Montmartre is known as the artists' cradle before fame. Icons such as Picasso and Modigliani were frequent visitors before rising to fame.

 

LA MAISON ROSE 


The "Rose House" was once the residence of the famous painter Utrillo and was later converted into a restaurant. The pink walls are its recognizable feature. We recommend that you try the french onion soup if you ever eat here.

 

MUSÉE MONTMARTRE 

In the middle of the 19th century, the Montmartre Museum is where Van Gogh, Utrillo, Renoir, and others worked together. It was one of the art centers of Montmartre.

The Montmartre story uses models to describe the history of Montmartre's development. Although the video is in French, English subtitles are available.

In addition to the indoor exhibitions, the gardens of the Montmartre Museum are worth a visit. The artist, Utrillo's mother, model and painter Susan Baradar left many landscapes and still life paintings displayed here.

  


The Montmartre Museum is very large and it's the place where many artists have laid their pen.

 


The Pierre Cathedral is famous for its architecture and garden views. Many artists have been inspired by this place. Is it suitable for slow walks and lazy afternoons. 

 


The "Montmartre Film Decoration Show", which ended in January of this year, featured a variety of film episodes shot at Montmartre.

 


Montmartre is influential in many levels to fine arts and cinema.

 


Many classic movies such as "Midnight in Paris", "Moulin Rouge" and "Amélie Poulin" feature Montmartre in their settings. 

 



 

La balançoire, Pierre-Auguste RENOIR, 1876

Renoir's masterpiece "Swing" was sketched here. This masterpiece is now displayed at the Musée d'Orsay.

 

PLACE TERTRE 

Montmartre's Place du Tertre is also known as Montmartre Plaza, where many painters gather to paint freely.

 

SACRÉ-COEUR 

Like the Eiffel Tower, the Basilica of the Sacré-Coeur is also a symbol of Paris. This Byzantine-style church, built on the highest point in Paris, is famous for its splendid viewpoint. In order to boost morale and stability, the church was built. The diagonal square located from the entrance of the cathedral to the Nadar Park is known as the best photo viewpoint in Montmartre.

 

MUR DES JE T'AIME 

At the Abbesses station on Metro Line 12, there is a wall of more than 1,000 "I love you's" written in more than 300 languages. This "love wall" is also one of the symbols of French romantic culture. 

 

MACHÉ DE LA BUTTE

Audrey Tautou's “The Fabulous Destiny of Amélie Poulain” was filmed in this small shop. The decoration in the shop is identical to the movie.

 

CAFÉ DES DEUX MOULINS 

This cafe is also one of the shooting locations for “The Fabulous Destiny of Amélie Poulain”. Due to the success of the movie, it attracts tourists from all over the world.

 

MOULIN ROUGE 

The Cancan Dance that has become so popular all over the world came from Moulin Rouge. The Moulin Rouge opened in 1899 and is still one of the most popular performances in the world. The iconic red windmill at the entrance has appeared in countless films and works of art.
