Paris plage makes summer in Paris just that much better! It began in 2002 for Parisians and tourists to escape the summer heat without having to leave the city.
BASSIN DE LA VILLETTE
One of the Paris beach areas is in the 19th disctrict around Saint Martin Canal. There are outdoor swimming pools with three different depths. Just right next to the pools, there is the artificial beach full of sand.
Not only swimming, but also various water activities like Kayaking and pedal boating are avaiable for you. Simply lay on the beach enjoying the sunshine, read a book or take a nap in this beachy atmosphere.
This is a paradise for kids as well. From the mini boats to the pedal boats, there are many activities that kids can enjoy on the water.
If you don't want to get in the water, there are some other activities on the sandy beaches as well. There are football tables, merry-go-rounds, and other family games to play.
Along the water there are concessions and tables set up for you to enjoy ice cream, drinks, and tapas. Everything you need for the perfect stay-cation is here at Paris Plage.
PARC RIVES DE SEINE
The other Paris Plage is closer to the city center. Staring at the Seine around the Tuileries Garden, Paris Plage is spreaded out to Pont Neuf, Cite, and until Pont de Sully. Even though you cannot go into the water here, there are some other charms to keep you satisfied.
There are less activities here compared to La Villette, but there is a lively atmosphere with people dancing, singing, playing the music, or just taking a rest viewing the Seine. After work or on weekends, couples or family come here to enjoy the calm and peaceful atmosphere.
This summer, if you are in Paris, you must visit the Paris Plage! This is a perfect place to be Parisian. Walk along the Seine or Canal Saint Martin and sit down for a while. Make the most of summer is Paris!
