A modern seafood restaurant in Amsterdam. There is a wide range of choices on the menu, and the price is reasonable. The founder of The Seafood Bar, Fons de Visscher, used to sell fishes for 27 years at Helmond, a small city in the Netherlands. With the great passion for fish and wine, he opened The Seafood Bar in 2012.
There are three branches in Amsterdam, and one more branch in Utrecht. In Amsterdam, you can find The Seafood Bar near Spui market, one near Van Gogh Museum, and the other near Heineken Experience and Albert Cuyp market. When you visit for dinner, there are lots of people waiting to get in, so we highly recommend you to make a online reservation in advance.
The restaurant is quite spacious and there are seats near the door, seafood counter, and much more inside. Most of the tables are reserved. The restaurant is modern and neat.
Once you enter the restaurant, this giant king crab will catch your eye.
When you enter more inside, you will see the seafood counter with various types of fresh seafood. You can discover how fresh they are.
When you are seated, they will give you the disposable apron so that you can freely use your hands to eat seafood without worring about foods spattered on your clothes.
Same as many other restaurants in Europe, they serve the bread as appetizers. The baguette itself is delicious, but when you dip it in the galic butter served together, it adds more taste.
Plateau is the seafood salad served with various raw seafood with some vegetables. Salmons, herrings, shrimps are mixed together with fresh vegetable and the cocktail sauce is added on top of them.
This mixed grill is for 1 person, but you can also order the bigger portion for 2 people. This is one of the most famous and popular menus from The Seafood Bar. On one plate, from fish to lobsters, shrimps, squids, mussels marinated with tomato sauce are served altogether. Lobsters are extremely soft and melt in your mouth, and other seafoods are also fresh and don't have the fishy smell. Both the quantity and quality are amazing.
The staffs are kind and the restaurant is tidy and you can have a nice meal with great quantity and quality. There is also The Seafood Shop, where you can simply buy some seafood and bring home or to hotels to enjoy them. At The Seafood Shop, they sell herrings, kibbelings, oysters, and seafood sandwiches. When you want to have a meal at the restaurant, remember to make an online reservation in advance.
