Maison & Objet is the French interior design fair which is also the biggest interior fair in Europe. Maison & Object cover from furniture to dishwares, fashion, daily supplies, and artworks of artists. As a leading fair suggesting living and design trends, it gives a lot of influence on the design field.
The main theme of Maison & Objet this year is VIRTUOUS, which implies that the awareness of nature opens new ways for the directions of our lives. By putting the value of respecting environment and human beings into arts, it can unite manufacturers, merchants, and consumers with responsible citizenship and common senses. Emphasizing the trend to reproduce with natural resources, they were showing the examples of ways to produce design stuffs with eco-friendly materials. Let's explore the various categories from eight exhibition halls focused on this theme.
COOK&SHARE
The most remarkable color at Cook&Share was green. You could obviously notice that the trend nowadays is to take colors of nature with oriental designs. The world famous pottery's brand Gien has applied outstanding trendy designs to their collections.
SMART GIFT
Smart Gift had various collections of decorations. The classic trendy graphic design is applied on the posters from Image Republic. Image Republic emotionalized their posters with graphics, making it world famous.
Here you could see design stuffs mainly for kids. For the sake of kids, eco-friendly theme should not remain as trend only. From the slides, to toys and furniture, they mainly used wood to produce them.
In Home Accesories part, you'll encounter with many lovely accessories such as shoes, bags, jewelries, etc. In this section, you could notice the trend of using natural colors, natural materials. BONNE MAISON has the trendy colourful sockes made in France. Not only the stunning colour combinations but also their striking patterns the fine-weave thread makes them incredibly comfortable to wear. You’d like to keep some of these lovely colourful socks in your drawer. Three new themes for this season : LES HERBES, LES ANGES and NAIADES.
DERCO DARK
Another interesting thing at Masion & Objet was the interior showroom which put together decorations from each exhibition hall.
It shows that decorations from various shops can easily make harmony with others while it suggests new ideas of interior design by putting them together.
CRAFT
Another theme you could notice was crafts, made by hand of artists. This is a nice opportunity for new artists to present their artworks every year.
UNIQUE & ECLECTIC
In this exhibition hall, they mainly covered furniture and big decorations. It is not too much to say that oriental design is the most powerful keyword of this year's trend. Oriental designs were displayed by each country and each brand. The atelier of ceramics at Icheon, Korea attended the fair as well.
TODAY
In this exhibition hall, you could explore the brands with bigger booth. Each showroom was installed just like stores. Vermissen, the interior brand from the Netherlands, was displaying impressive lights, emotionalized using graphic patterns, adding feature with filaments.
FOREVER
The last exhibition hall, Forever, also had the best design shops in Europe. Belgian interior is growing fast these days, and among Belgian brands, Vips and Friends caught popularity by following trends and sophiscated designs. As the brand specializing in bronze and crystals, they add more atmosphere with vintage and sophiscated design at the same time.
At Maison & Objet, you can see the most of interior designs from all over the world. From the eco-friendly designs, to oriental trend, and to eternal trend over trends, classic design.
As a leading fair to suggest design trends in the world, Maison & Objet discover and collaborate not only with large manufactureres, but also with outstanding artists for permanent growth while preserving traditional craft skills as well.
