This year's ART PARIS exhibition was held at the Grand Palais in Paris from April 5th to 8th. The exhibition began in 1999 and this is the 20th edition of the exhibition. 142 art galleries from 73 countries participated in the art fair and exhibited works of more than 990 artists. Including pieces from Latin America, Africa, Asia, the Middle East as well as European art spanning World War II to nowadays.
GALERIE CHARLOT
The Paris based gallery is famous for its interactive or communicative art. The distinctive portraits are bold and eye-catching.
PERPITCH & BRINGAND
This gallery was founded by Agnès Perpitch and Elodie Bringand. PERPITCH & BRINGAND's works deal with various subjects such as human body, time and space from a unique perspective, and present unique interpretations of the banal and ordinary.
SCHOOL GALLERY / OLIVIER CASTAING
The gallery opened in 2008 and is located near the Canal Saint-Martin in Paris. Various types of modern art works are displayed here, including video displays, sculptures, paintings, photography, and architectural pieces. His attempts at the diverse genre of art is impressive.
GALERIE LA LIGNE
The gallery is located in Zurich, Switzerland. His works are known for their ingenious use of lines. Many of his works seem to be static, but gives an illusion of movement when viewed from different angles.
Hungarian Focus - Art Market Budapest - India Gallery + Viltin Gallery
This area shows the works of the Eastern European contemporary art Galleries. The exhibition focuses on the works of Budapest's female artists. This piece is a combination of several photos, which creates the effect of moving images.
GALLERY SOSO
SOSO Gallery is located in Paju, South Korea. The creator of this piece is Kim Yun-soo, a Korean artist. The blue laminated structure shows the texture of the waves. Kim Yun-soo's works sometimes depict changing landscapes, depicting the dynamic forms of wind, rivers, and mountains.
GALERIE ANDRÉS THALMANN
Gallery in Zurich, Switzerland. This piece is Claude Viallat's ''Untitled'' series, which features fingerprints instead of geometric patterns on the canvas. The flamboyant use of colors and bold strokes makes it very appealing.
WOOSON GALLERY
The works of the WOOSON Gallery in Daegu, South Korea, were also featured at the fair. This piece entitled Chinese artist Wang Ping.
DIGITAL PROJECTIONS Grand Palais - Façade
During the exhibition period, the facade of the Grand Palais' main entrance was projected with visuals every night from 8:30 to midnight . This is the work of three Swiss artists. Projection uses various colors and movements to depict the different elements such as the speed of wind, the temperature of water and movement of currents; creating an illusion that the building was alive and moving.
The projection created a variety of animal shadows, with realistic sound effects.
This is a truly immersive experience. Every detail of the building became a part of the exhibition. This was such a great opportunity to learn about contemporary art by artists from all over the world.
