INTRO

This museum is devoted to modern and postmodern photography and media.  Housed in a building at the end of the Tuileries Gardens, close to the Place de la Concorde. The facility has quite a history, originally built in 1861 as royal indoor courts for a tennis-like sport called jeu de paume. During the Nazi occupation of WWII, the space was commandeered by the Nazis and used as a collection hall for artworks that they stole. Now, mainly filled by the impressionistic classical painting collection. The museum does not have a permanent exhibition. Some pieces from several collection may appear in feature exhibitions depending on the theme of the exhibition. The building consistes of 4 floors that used for the galleries. It takes approximently  1-2 hours to visit the  exhibition. 

 

Albert Renger-Patzsch

One of the most influential photographers of the 20th century is Albert Renger-Patzsch, an artist from Germany. Mainly his collection approach to the architectural photos, tree photos, and any object thats reflect nature. Albert Renger-Patzsch was a pioneering figure in the New Objectivity movement, which sought to engage with the world as clearly and precisely as possible. Known for his tightly cropped, sharply focused images of plants, animals, landscapes, and industrial subjects, he believed that he assigned a new role for the photographer, to strengthen the horizons of things.

As a pioneer figure in the New Objectivity movement, Albert Renger-Patzsch captures the reality of ordinary object, creating a new photographic realism characterised by extreme simplicity and originality. 

 

Ali Kazma

Time: 17 October 2017 to 21 January 2018 (special exhibition has ended)

 

Ali Karma is a Turkish filmaker, best known for his series documenting human activity. Ali Kazma represents the national pavilion of Turkey. He graduated in 1998 from The New School in New York and has been living and working in Istanbul since 2000. He has traveled the world and he uses the documentation during his trip to create some films in this exhibition. 

 

His videos show us the various developments from the current human in every indicator such as economy, industry, science, society and medicine.

 

The Svalbard globale frøhvelv in Norway is the Norwegian government's repository of world-wide crop seeds built on the Arctic Svalbard, with 87,000 seeds. Seed banks are designed to prevent the loss of seeds from other gene banks during a large-scale regional or global crisis. The project has the support from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization and known as the "Noah's Ark of the 21st Century" in global agriculture.
