Standing on the no.13 of Bouchers street in Brussels, there is one outstanding Belgian restaurant, offering an elegant and classic home cooking.
The history dates back to the beginning of the 1970s when Jacques Veulemans founded the “Comptoir des Armes,” a Belgian-style tapas bar in Bruxelles.
For starter, we took this plate. We didn't expect that simple mushrooms could be this good. Aux Armes de Bruxelles and Chez Léon are built in front and are established by Calixte Veulemansbut but they are complementary different, that Chez Leon is more familiar brand whilst Aux Armes de Bruxelles is more classic and elegant, while both serve Belgian classic home cooking.
Half-size grey shrimp salad and one piece of grey shrimp croquette. This is a very Belgian dish with grey shrimps, often described as the 'queen of seafood'. This tasty shrimps from the North Sea of Belgium taste the best when eaten with mayonnaise and lemon juice. The croquette goes very well with the fried parsley.
Soup is an important dish for every meal. This classic and elegant but home-made taste potage of the day can make you feel warm inside.
Since there are many choices at Aux Armes De Bruxelles and everything seems so good, you will not be able to decide but everything is all authentic and delicious so you can choose whatever depending on your feeling if you feel like a cream sauce, or tomato sauce, or some grilled dishes, and so on.
We'd recommend taking a desert as well. Hot crepe and cold ice cream will just melt together in your mouth and you will never forget its rich taste.
Cuberdon is very Belgian sweets made with Arabic gum. Creme brulee aux cuberdons is something that you never can find outside of Belgium and it's a very unique menu at Aux Armes de Bruxelles.
