Bouillon Chartier Restaurant was opened in 1896 by two brothers in an old train station (which explains the Belle Epoque architecture). In 1989, the building was classified as a historic monument. Today, the restaurant still belongs to the Chartier Family and has kept its tradition as a good Parisian canteen. Food is simple and very French, prices are low and the quality is good. What we enjoy the most here is the unique interior architecture.
WHAT TO EAT
With the menu above, you can see that prices are very reasonable around 10 euros or below for amain set. Very traditional French forumals are available like "Tartare de Boeuf, Andouillette" or "Confit de Canard".
We have chosen a "Steak haché sauce poivre vert" which is a chopped steak with pepper sauce and French fries.
A steak à l'échalote which is beef steak with shallot.
A Daurade royale au four sauce vierge which is a Sea Bream fish with water potatoes.
And for the dessert, we have ordered a Baba au rhum chantilly which is a sweet cake with rum and chantilly cream inside.
ATMOSHERE
Bouillon Chartier has a canteen atmosphere with noise in the background. We are many in the same room and a bit squizzed. Waiters are fast and polite. The background architecture takes you back to la Belle Epoque. Clients are both local Pasisian workers and tourists. The big advantage is that you will be served fastly.
O'BON PARIS' NOTE
